Social Security Alert: Last February 2025 Payment Goes to Those Born on This Date

Social Security retirement payments are set to hit bank accounts soon, but not all recipients will receive their funds at the same time. Some retirees may have to wait until February 26, 2025, depending on their birth date and when they started receiving benefits.

Who Receives Their Social Security Payment First?

For retirees who began collecting Social Security before May 1997 or those receiving both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and retirement benefits, payments will be sent out first on February 3, 2025. These recipients have been receiving benefits for nearly three decades and are on a fixed payment schedule.

SSI is a needs-based program for low-income individuals, so if you qualify for both SSI and Social Security retirement benefits, you may receive your payment earlier in the month.

Mid-Month Social Security Payments

If you don’t qualify for the February 3 payment, your Social Security check will arrive later based on your birth date:

  • Born between the 1st and 10th? Your payment will be deposited on February 12, 2025.
  • Born between the 11th and 20th? Expect your payment on February 19, 2025.

Final Round of Payments on February 26

Retirees who were born between the 21st and 31st will receive their Social Security benefits on February 26, 2025. This schedule applies to those who started receiving benefits after April 30, 1997. While these recipients must wait the longest, their payments will still arrive on time.

How Much Will You Receive?

The average Social Security retirement benefit in February 2025 is projected to be $1,976 per month. However, retirees who earned higher wages throughout their careers may receive significantly more, with maximum payments reaching $5,108.

No matter when your payment arrives, the Social Security Administration ensures that all benefits are distributed according to the set schedule. If your payment is delayed, it’s best to check with your bank or the SSA for updates
